I wished
a secret wish
on sweet sixteen
birthday candles
I wished
I could dance
my sweet sixteen
with you
wished
us two girls
could dance
our rite of passage
together
when
the needle dropped
and the
music played
dance
just dance
like any
natural born lovers
would
all
night
long.
2.
for
so many years
when
the needle dropped
and the
music played
it was
only
your name
I wanted to see
on my
dance card
it was
only
you
forever
you
I’d set
my heart
on
you
I wished
would come
dance
with me
wished
would come
fill
my arms
fill
my life
for always.
3.
instead
when
the needle dropped
time
danced
between us
time
filled
my arms
with
an
eternity
of
undanced
dances
of
hollow
desert
years
without
the music
of
you.
4.
now
after years
lost
and
long
with
waiting
tonight
my wish
of sweet sixteen
comes true
tonight
this night
we dance
when the
needle drops
and the
music plays
we dance
our rite of passage
long denied
dance
our dance
at last
two women
smiling in each other’s eyes
dancin
two women
movin and groovin
dancin
two women
fearless and free
dancin
two women
natural born lovers
together
forever
dancin
all
life
long.

If you see a shooting star, make a wish and see if it comes true. We all have dreams that we would love to see become accomplished. I relate to this because I was in love once, and I know how it feels to want to see that special person on that special day. I remember sneaking out of my house and lying to my parents, but at that moment the consequences didn’t matter. I do believe that dreams come true, but love is capricious feeling. When I look back and think about what occurred, I was happy that I had those moments while they lasted.
My ultimate favorite blog from Frankie Lennon will have to be
"Love Song VII: Dancin". I can identify myself with this poem because I can relate to it. Even though in my situation, it may not be with another female, I have experienced the same feelings and desires for another individual. In this case not a boy but, not yet a man. I've known him for five years now and even though "time has danced between us", we still have feelings for each other and care for one another. Unlike the happy ending in the poem, we are not together but, this does not mean it may not happen in the future.
By reading this blog I got the impression of two girls who love themselves and want to live it. They don’t want to hide it and are not ashamed of themselves. I really do like this poem. It’s about letting your emotions and feelings out. There is nothing wrong with being gay. It’s a part of who that person is. I believe that people who are gay should be respected and allowed to live his/her life like everyone else does. It takes a lot of courage to accept something like this. Yet alone allow every one to know it. This is why I think that gay people are also very brave.
I liked this poem because it reminded me of when I had my sweet sixteen in which I danced all night. The chronological order it has makes the poem interesting because it made me want to keep reading so that I could understand what was going to occur next. The author mentions how she wished of having her sweet sixteen and wished that she could have danced with the love of her life. The words that Frankie uses in her poem are lovely and romantic which I enjoyed reading. Lastly, I like the ending of the poem because she writes how after long years of wanting and waiting, she finally had the chance to have a dance with her loved one.
To start out i want to say that i personally love what this blog is representing. It represents freedom and being able to express yourself. Its all about you and that special someone whether is between a man and a woman or just simply between two women. Its a wish that finally one day came true. I can really relate to this poem just because everyone has a wish that they want for once to come true no matter what it symbolizes. At that moment all you can think about is that wish coming true, on everything working out smoothly, no regrets, just focusing on that special event. I give two thumbs up to this author. She opens up everyone's eyes on fact that this wish was between two women.
